WPLC Rising Star Award

Purpose
This award recognizes a “Rising Star” pre-tenure faculty member who is committed to empowering women and demonstrating leadership and creativity through their academics, research, service, and/or teaching.

Award
The recipient will receive a $5,000 award and a plaque presented at the CEHD Spring Assembly and Recognition event in April. Up to one award may be presented each year to an eligible pre-tenured faculty nominee.

Eligibility
Pre-tenure faculty with a current appointment in CEHD as of the due date of this dossier, may apply. An individual may not receive this award more than once; however, previous nominees who have not received the award may be re-nominated. All nominees must be an active employee in good standing at the time of the dossier due date. Nominees must continue as employees in good standing in order to receive the award at the date of the spring assembly in April.

Criteria
Successful nominees should have demonstrated their commitment to empowering women. This can include but is not limited to: conducting scholarly research on issues that disproportionately affect women; developing curricula focused on the roles, experiences, and achievements of women in society; promoting efforts to develop female leaders of all ages; and participating in service activities with organizations that help women and families. Candidates will be evaluated on leadership and creativity through their academics, research, publications, service, and/or teaching.
