Educational Leadership Award

Purpose
To recognize individuals who have demonstrated a long-term and consistent pattern of educational leadership and impact on their field.

Award 
Recipient will receive a $1,500 award and a certificate presented at the CEHD Spring Assembly and Recognition event in April. Up to one award may be presented each year to an eligible faculty nominee.

Eligibility
Tenured and pre-tenure track faculty with a current appointment in CEHD as of the due date for this dossier, may apply. An individual may not receive this award more than once; however, previous nominees who have not received the award may be re-nominated. All nominees must be an active employee in good standing at the time of the dossier due date. Nominees must continue as employees in good standing in order to receive the award at the date of the spring assembly in April.

Criteria
Successful nominees should have demonstrated:

  • A consistent pattern of excellent leadership and impact in their respective field (e.g., curriculum development; issues of diversity; mentoring and professional development; influence on content, methods, or models in the field of study).
  • Long-term achievements that distinguish the nominee as an outstanding educational leader.
  • The ability to create environments that inspire intellectual curiosity and critical thinking, and encourage diverse viewpoints.
  • Active support of new faculty.


Nomination Documentation

Nomination materials are reviewed by individuals who may not be specialists in the nominee’s field. Successful nominations document how the experiences of the nominee meet the criteria of the award. It is strongly suggested that the letters specifically address the criteria in the order they are listed. Reminder: all award nominations must be completed by March 1, 2024.


Selection Process 

Nominations will be reviewed by the CEHD Honors and Awards work group, which will make a recommendation to the dean, who will make the final decision regarding the final recipient of this award.
