Marty and Jack Rossmann Award

Purpose

The Marty and Jack Rossmann Faculty Development Award will recognize a tenured faculty member who has demonstrated a truly exceptional level of creativity and productivity in scholarship, teaching and service, and who shows great promise of continuing such achievement.

Award 
Recipient will receive a $15,000 award administered over the course of two years, which will be available to the recipient to be used for travel expenses, research expenses or professional development. This award may not be used to supplement the recipient’s salary. A commemorative certificate will be presented at the CEHD Spring Assembly and Recognition event in April. Up to one award may be presented each year to an eligible faculty nominee.

Eligibility
Mid-career, tenured faculty with a minimum of three years, uninterrupted service with CEHD as of the due date for this nomination,  are eligible to be nominated. An individual may not receive this award more than once; however, previous nominees who have not received the award may be re-nominated. All nominees must be an active employee in good standing at the time of the dossier due date. Nominees must continue as employees in good standing in order to receive the award at the date of the spring assembly in April.

Criteria
Successful nominees should:

  • Demonstrate truly exceptional levels of creativity and productivity in scholarship, teaching and service.
  • Demonstrate great promise for a continuing exceptional level of promise in the above indicated areas.
  • Indicate how the support from this award would further their work in the future.
  • Contribute to advancing a specific discipline within the college.


Nomination Documentation
Nomination materials are reviewed by individuals who may not be specialists in the nominee’s field. Successful nominations document how the experiences of the nominee meet the criteria of the award. It is strongly suggested that the letters specifically address the criteria in the order they are listed. Nomination Forms

Reminder: all award nominations must be completed by March 1, 2024.


Selection Process 

Nominations will be reviewed by the CEHD Honors and Awards work group, which will make a recommendation to the dean, who will make the final decision regarding the recipient of this award.
