WHAT IS CIVIL BEHAVIOR?
- Reflect concern for others
- Use respectful, supportive and encouraging language, no matter the subject.
- Listen actively

- Interact with a cooperative versus confrontational attitude.
- Approach conflict with a desire for resolution rather than a fight or opportunity to prove others wrong.

WHAT IS UNCIVIL BEHAVIOR?
- Positioning oneself over others.
- Displaying a lack of regard for others.
- Addressing others in an unprofessional, disrespectful way-for example, talking down, using degrading remarks or tone of voice.
- Ignoring others (in person, emails, etc.); Paying little or no attention to others’ opinions.
- Using intimidating or threatening verbal communication—yelling, repeated emotional outbursts, threats, berating or harsh tone of voice, repeatedly interrupting.
- Using hostile, demeaning, or threatening body language
- Criticizing in front of a group.
- Blaming others for things out of their control.
- Excessively monitoring or micromanaging others.
- Accusing others of incompetence or dismissing their expertise.Gossiping or complaining about someone to others.
- Excluding others from having input into decisions that impact their areas of responsibility.
